Computer Science & Economics at Dartmouth

Hello,

I will be applying to colleges this year and was looking at Dartmouth.

I will most probably major in Computer Science/Engineering. I wanted to know if Dartmouth is good in these fields.

I am also interested in economics. Is Dartmouth good for economics?

Also, is aid for international students at Dartmouth very limited (I know it's not need blind)? If you could tell me how many internationals got aid last year it'll be really helpful.

Thanks

Econ and Government are amongst the 2 most popular majors at the school. Maybe someone majoring in econ or computer engineering will give you their perspective.

Dartmouth is not need blind for international students in the admissions process. However if you are admitted the school will meet 100% of your demonstrated need.

In the class of 2008 there were 54 international students,.

In section H5 of the schools's common data report it states that 147 (of 209 degree seeking students) international students received need based aid and the average $ amount was $31,134

<a href="http://www.dartmouth.edu/%7Eoir/pdfs/cds_200405_02.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.dartmouth.edu/~oir/pdfs/cds_200405_02.pdf</a></p>

Class of 2009, all the 5 students from China get need based financial aid starting from $25,000 to $44,000.
What I feel is that Dartmouth, though claiming not need blind to international students, is not a college that money could easily pave the way, as is with some other top 10 college.
It's really generous, I think.

I'm an international student. A friend of mine, also an international, applied to many places I did. My EFC was about 2.5 times his.

He got rejected from Dartmouth (not need-blind), while I was accepted.
He got rejected from Swarthmore (not need-blind), while I was waitlisted.
He got into Williams (Williams is need-blind), while I was only waitlisted.
He was waitlisted at Harvard (also need-blind), while I was rejected.

Take from that what you want.
