I have been looking (for my child) at Florida schools for a degree in Computer Science.

He took SAT and got 2120 (CR-690, CW-610, MATH-720) - He will repeat
He has taken Computer Science AP and is expected to do well
He seems to have an affinity for Computer Science

I would like to put him in a good school for Computer Science. I have been looking at Florida since I am moving there. I would like to know which ones of Florida schools have the best Computer Science programs and how do they compare with other nationally reputed schools

Also, what are the odds of finding financial aid and what I need to do for financial aid.

Florida has four ranked Computer Science programs, according to US News & World Report

39 University of Florida

79 Florida State University

91 University of Central Florida

99 University of South Florida

Note 1: These numbers are geared more towards graduate school. For undergraduate, the curriculum is not going to differ that much. You’re better off looking at things like student to faculty ratio and overall feel of the school.

Note 2: UF just went through a huge, public controversy over a threat to fold their Computer Science department into their Engineering school, while eliminating research. They’ve since backed off of this, but it definitely left a lot of people scratching their heads as to what they were thinking, and what they might be planning for the future.
