Computer Science internships for incoming freshman?

Hey, I'm going to major in compsci next year at umd and want to get a job/internship related to my field(atleast remotely) this summer. Any places I should check out or see? I live in Monroe, NJ, for any reference. It could be almost anything related to programming or computer science.

Also, I'd like to know what are the chances of getting an internship in the winter? Would it make a significant difference in getting one if I studied some programming this summer(I already took ap compsci and am probably taking java again next year, so I'm not too big on learning it 3 times)? Is it more worthwhile for me to just get a normal job?

Thanks.

Its probably too late to do anything this summer, the majority of the internships run mid may-mid august and we’re pretty much right in the middle. I would definitely say look at a company that you would like to work with and learn some of the technical parts of what they do, from what i’ve heard a majority of compsci companies when interviewing will make you answer technical questions and code infront of them. As for winter internship ive never heard of that happening :/

dang that sucks, but I’ll make sure to keep that in mind for next summer
