Computer Science Major with low gpa

I did not know the importance of college until the eleventh grade. My gpa was really bad in ninth and tenth grade and the average gpa of those two years combined came to a 1.8:( I stepped up my game in the last two years of high school. I am currently completing my senior year and applying to colleges. I sent out my applications to all the umasses, Salem state, Suffolk university, Framingham, and Bridgewater state university. My SAT score is a 1270. I also took multiple dual enrollment courses at bunker hill community college. My current gpa is a 2.6. My college guidance counselor told me that I may still have a chance at these colleges because I go to a charter school and the curriculum is really advanced. I am interested in computer science (and am taking AP computer science principles right now), so I put that as my major in all the colleges. I just got a reply from Umass Dartmouth on Friday and they said: “Congratulations! You have been accepted. Your academic record was competitive; however, not for the major of your choice. The Admissions Committee has suggested another major. Your information will be sent to you via mail in a few days. After reviewing please respond with your admissions deposit as soon as possible. $200.00 for admissions and/or $200.00 for housing.” Now I am worried that I may not get accepted into the computer science major at any of the colleges I applied to. Do I still have a chance?

guys please. I am really stressing out.

What was your math score on the SAT? What math class are you currently taking and have you been receiving good grades in previous years? AP CSP grade first semester?

never mind. I just got the acceptance letter from bridgewater with the computer science major:)

CONGRATS!
