I am interested in finding out more about the computer science programs at the UC’s. It looks like they are ranked nationally UCB(3), UCLA (15), UCSD (22), UCI (34), UCSB (48), UCSC (50), and UCD (58). Talking with students from Cal Berkeley they say you can go two years and still not be accepted in to the program your Junior year for the major. Plus it is practically impossible to get into the first three unless you are a genius at a public school.

Can anyone give me insite into the various programs?
Also, I hear USC and Cal Poly have better programs then all of the choices except UCB and maybe UCLA. Any other views? Help please
Thanks

It's like that at many schools. CompSci is often impacted, so unless you are admitted under the CS major, you usually have to undergo a premajor process that is not at all guaranteed.

From what I noticed this year at UCI, during my orientation, people did not have trouble switching into any majors before classes started. The counselor literally had the forms on hand to switch into the Biological Sciences major and there's 3,700 of us at Irvine.
