Computer Science weed out rate?

Hey guys!

I’m a bit concerned as to the high weed out rate at UT Austin computer science.
I was wondering if any current/former UT Austin computer science students could talk about the program’s initial difficulty and weed out rate?

I am a current cs student and unfortunately yes, it is getting tougher to get into the cs program every year… and how it works is that as a freshmen you will be put into the “computer science entry level program” before the completion of the first three entry-level classes. And if you get a GPA of 2.75 or above in these three classes then you get promoted automatically into the actual CS major. I am not really aware of the weed out rate, but I do have friends who couldn’t pass the entry-level courses.

Is it possible to apply for a less popular major and take these said three entry-level classes to get a CS major?

No because you have to be in that cs entry program to take those classes. Otherwise you aren’t allowed to sign up for them.
