Concerning video on youtube

I helped in the organization of a school dance a few months ago, pretty much like the one in the video, or maybe “worse” (350+ students 11th and 12th only)

As Photographer mom said "Students won’t attend if it looks like a Hannah Montana concert. "
And she is actually right, we had to do some things to make it look more attractive to students.

“Why?”
Because it’s fun. Why else? (Correct Answer) :)

I never knew I would ever have to write something about this video, but given such concerns from parents of prospective students I took it upon myself to explain what was going on in the video. I noticed on my youtube channel that I was suddenly getting viewers from the collegeconfidential website, so I decided to read through this discussion.

First of all, I’m slightly worried that the school’s administration can see this, but I am the student who made this video as well as all the videos on my youtube channel. I do attend the Groton School and am a proud member of this wonderful institution. I put the word “clean” in the title because I was warned by my friends that the first version had a song that had inappropriate lyrics. I also want to point out that this dance is a drug and alcohol free dance in which all students are invited to come. I wasn’t trying to imply that our dances are inappropriate and scandalous, but I just wanted to tell the viewers (who I thought would mainly be Groton Students) to know that the first version with a different song was changed. Also, the original intention of this very video was to promote the dance so that we can have a fun activity on campus.

I also want to say that there are always at lease two faculty present at the dance to look after us, so there is no revelry of the sort you all are worried about. Also, despite whichever school (whether it be private or public, boarding or day, co-ed or unisex, small or big, etc.) you decide your sons and daughters should attend, there will be dances, and some of the “dirty dancing” will be present no matter what. If you have any question, I am more than willing to answer more, and I hope you enjoy some of the videos I uploaded because it represents my experience at Groton. Hope this answered some of your questions.

By the way, we do not make anyone pay for these dances, but we do fundraisers through selling t-shirts or baked goods to fund our dances. So, why do I make these videos? It’s simply because it is fun to make these. Also, I might’ve made some grammatical mistakes here and there, but it is 1:47AM here and I am Korean, so naturally English is my second language.
