Concurrent enrollment in multiple colleges?

Hello,
If I’m working towards an AS while independently homeschooled, can I attend multiple colleges to bypass the maximum unit allowance at each college or would I get in trouble?

Who is paying for the classes? Who is imposing the limit? Are they part of the same group of colleges such as different community colleges within the same state?

My daughter did that- she maxed out the CA limit of 11 credits at her CA CC, and so took another class or two in another state’s college simultaneously.

@momtogirls2 They are California community colleges, but each colleges imposes limits for only their own college. California reimburses colleges for concurrently enrolled students because they do not pay tuition. The education code doesn’t specify any unit cap anywhere.

@milgymfam Im not sure if there are CA state limits though because the only thing I could find is each college’s maximum allowed units which differ from college to college. Are you sure the limit was a state limit or an individual college’s limit?

I do not know that it’s a law. My D looked at three colleges in CA and took classes at two. All had the same limits, which could easily have been a coincidence. I’m not sure if it’s ok to double dip in CA schools. She asked her honors counselor and he indicated you could not, but he could also have been wrong.

@milgymfam Oh okay, I was questioning that because two of the colleges in my area has an 8 and 9 unit cap respectively and another one has 11 units. One of the three quarter colleges in my area has a 9 quarter unit cap which makes it more confusing. But thanks for your input anyway!
