Confused about acceptance rates/chances

I plan on applying to Carnegie Mellon University with a Computer Engineering degree. I heard that CMU's acceptance rate is around 30%, but that CIT's acceptance rate is very low, around 15%.

I don't get this at all! Will my application be considered by CIT or CMU? And why are the rates so different?

Thanks!

I’m planning to apply there too but I’m confused, what is GIT?

The rates are different because if the number applying and the number each will enroll. Competition. Whether or not you can get in will depend on grades, scores and other attributes.

Oh, I wrote GIT instead of CIT. So, I’m asking again, what is CIT?

CIT = Carnegie Institute of Technology

That’s where the Computer Engineering major is.

Oh, I get it now! Thanks for the help :)
