Confused about assured admittance

So basically, like all brown parents, my parents dont think i can make it into any college. They want me to go to UTD, and i am pretty interested in going there too. I've been looking at the admissions requirements, and im kinda surprised. It says for assured admittance you need to be either top 15%, 26 SAT, or 1200 combined math+reading SAT.

I myself didnt do as well in school, im about top 18%. But i got a 1340 on my SAT math+reading and 32 on ACT. so i mean, according to the criteria i should be able to get assured admitance.

Is that really all i need to show UTD though? my act and sat score and i can get in? do i not need to send essays, teacher recommendation letters, any achievements, etc? i was always told that the college application process was hard and took time and that you need to send colleges everything you've done, so it just seems to easy to be true if all you need is your scores from the national tests to get assured admittance.

My brother is under the assured admittance program and I am a current freshman here. I believe you still need to do the actual application process but if it was the same one I did last year all you had to do was fill out your info, achievements, extracurriculars, etc. but the essay was optional (though recommended for scholarship consideration). I graduated in the top 10% and so I was auto-admitted too. Once you finish your application if you’re under auto-admit then they will send you an acceptance notification very quickly (i think i got mine within days to a week) than if they had to review your application if you werent auto admitted. They began reviewing ALL applicants (regardless of auto-admit) for their scholarships around late fall.

All students must complete an application to be considered for admission. Freshman applicants use the ApplyTexas online application.

Students graduating in good standing from an accredited high school who have completed the full Texas recommended college-track high school curriculum and who have academic records meeting one of the following criteria will be admitted to UT Dallas:

An SAT score of 1200 (combined math and critical reading) or higher
or
A composite ACT score of 26 or greater
or
A class rank in the top 15% of their high school class

The following are the average SAT/ACT scores for students who were offered an AES award in fall 2012 (low class ranks can bring the award offer down):

Achievement Average SAT (Critical Reading + Math only): 1330 Average ACT: 30

Distinction Average SAT (Critical Reading + Math only): 1440 Average ACT: 32

Honors Average SAT (Critical Reading + Math only): 1490 Average ACT: 34
