So I Was about to fill out a non-tax filer form for college, since my mom wasn't going to file taxes, But today she decided to go to a bookkeeper so she can file. Well her gross income came out to $8,030. With Only one dependent, my baby brother she didnt clami me becouse i dont have a ssn. Anyway I thought she didnt had to file becouse she made less than $9,500 ?
My question is, do i now have to wait and request a tax request transcript for my TAFSA? Or can I just make copies of the "copies" they gave her with a non-tax filer form? I just wanted to fill out a form becouse it was faster to send my TAFSA since the deadline is May 1 and the IRS takes forever to send a tax transcript! Im new i college so i have no idea what am doing and the financial aid office from my college doesn't really help me:(

You need to visit an IRS office and get some help here. Do you have a SSN? I’m not sure what is happening here with you and what your status in this country is.

You mother might have filed because she might be eligible for an Eanred INcome Credit, meaning money back, if she is a single parent with a child.

But your status is very important in terms of being eligible for financial aid. You need that SSN for FAFSA. Though your mother may not have to be a citizen or permanent resident for you to get aid, you have to be.

My mom has a SSN and my baby brother does too, Im the one who doesn’t . And she is a single parent.

Why don’t you have a social security number? You need one to get financial aid as a US citizen or permanent resident. Are you either? Are you a citizen or have a green card? if the answer is no, you are not entitled to fill out FAFSA. You are not entitled to federal funds for college even if your mother and baby brother are citizens. You mom does not need the SSN for school fin aid–YOU do.

My baby brother was born here and my mom obtained her thou immigration because she was victim of domestic violence. And I need this information so i canbget in state tuition and some scholarships.

Tanisz…are you a U.S. citizen or green card holder? As noted above, you are not eligible to file a FAFSA unless you are. You cannot receive any federally funded need based aid.

If you are a citizen, GET a SS number ASAP.

The OP is asking about TAFSA for Texas state aid. It appears you don’t need to be a citizen or permanent resident to apply:

[AIE - TASFA Application](http://www.aie.org/State/TASFA/)

Since your mom filed a return you won’t be able to file a non-filers form.

Per 6b-d in the link below it appears you can attach a copy of the tax return(have your mom sign it). Per 6d you may need to provide a tax return transcript if the school requires it.

I’m not an expert on Texas aid, I just googled and found these references.
