Confused about Major/Career

I'm a freshman in college, and right now, I'm planning to be a piano performance major; however, I don't know if I would have the talent to be a concert pianist, which is what I'm aiming for; I'm not really into becoming a piano teacher/music teacher. And I don't want to be a "starving artist" - I want financial security. So now I'm looking at backup majors; the problem is, that even though I've gotten really good grades throughout school, I don't really have one specific academic interest besides music - at times I think history is interesting, at times astronomy floats my boats, and at times I even think economics is cool, even though I don't really enjoy math that much. It's pretty much all the same to me - I need help choosing something - I might double major, in case the piano performance degree doesn't work out. Any suggestions/advice? Thanks in advance!

Maybe a business major (Accounting, Finance, Marketing, IT/Management Information Systems); some may involve less math than others.

my opinion is i think you should have more confidence about making it as a concert pianist. of course, this also depends on how experienced and talented you are. but i have to say, if you try to go for something more "practical", you will regret not trying out for your dreams. just try to focus on being a concert pianist if that's what you really want, and don't worry about money just yet. it will eat at you if you let it. besides, i heard music majors are valued in big companies, because it takes lots of motivation to succeed.

Many careers are not major-specific. How prestigious is your school? What kinds of jobs do you see yourself doing?

I'm in the music program at my school, and what i would consider doing if you're unsure is to start out as a music major. At least where i go to school, students begin the music program their freshman year because it's fairly intensive. If you ultimately that you don't want to be a music major, you can use your credits towards a music minor.
