Confused about residences McGill

I'm a bit confused about what residence to choose. I was awarded the one year entrance scholarship so I'm guaranteed to receive a spot in one of my two top choices. My first choice is RVC, a single room, and I wanted to know what the dorm life is like. I was initially a bit hesitant about sharing a bathroom with the whole floor but I'm okay with it now but I'm still wondering is it a problem or inconvenience? also are the people there friendly, etc? and what's the cafeteria like? i've heard it's the best out of all the residences. and what residence is similar to RVC so that i can pick that as my second option? i would definitely want a single room.

single room… ur best bet would be anyhting on Upper Rez…

they are all singles and apparently have the best social life

people die to go to Douglas, its on the top of the lost for most of the scholarship winners

Gardner and Molson have singles, and there said to be the best party rez’s…

Hey guys,
I am in a similar dilemma. I am looking for a double room as living alone would get me dead bored and lonely. I like Douglas but it is said to a have a tiring high hill walk. I probably also seek for a residence close to the campus and RVC seems appropriate but has an impression of being strict and dull. I favor partying and socialism. How are Greenbriar, MORE houses and University Hall? If one does afford New Rez, does the caf and meals get really pricy there ?
Thanks

the caf at new rez is the most expensive, thats generally one of the reasons as to why many people dont consider it… not sure about Greenbriar, ive heard that its unsocial, and getting a single their would be really depressing, plus the singles there are expensive. Uni Hall and MORE are said to be pretty fun and social

hey just wanted to check something. there is the hall ranking worksheet we have to fill out right. is it okay if i pick the RVC Single room, single-sex floor, coed tower as my first choice and my second choice as RVC Single room, all-female building, west wing? these will be two separate options right?

deatheater7, here are all four options for RVC (girls):

 • Single room, all-female building, west wing
 • Double room, all-female building, west wing
 • Single room, single-sex floor, coed tower
 • Double room, single-sex floor, coed tower

guys can only choose from the last two options :P

RVC caf is the best, you can get burgers, fries, steaks etc all to order. It is also across the street from campus so there is no walk. For upper rez, although you have to walk uphill and the food is not as great, it is a very social environment and you will meet a lot of people. Douglas is smaller than the three upper rez’s so it has a more tight-knit community. New rez would be great if you can get a single but it is expensive and a decent walk away. And adip04, living in a single room will not hinder you in any way in socializing when everyone around you has a single room as well. It’s SO nice to have your privacy whenever you want it and not have to risk getting a bad roommate.
