When there are "series" that need to be taken (i.e., life sciences, chemistry, physics, and math), do they need to be taken consecutively?

For example, take the Chem 14 series....

Do I have to take one each consecutive quarter?
(Fall 2011 - Chem 14A, Winter 2012 - Chem 14B & 14BL, Spring 2012 - Chem 14C/14CL, Summer 2012 - Chem 14D)

Or am I allowed to skip a quarter as a "break" so long as I take each class in numerical order, and continue the rest of the series the quarter after that?
(Fall 2011 - Chem 14A, Winter 2012 - Chem 14B & 14BL, Spring 2012 - no chem, Fall 2012 - Chem 14C & 14CL)

Yes you can take a break. Also, the lab class does not need to be taken at the same time as the lecture. And 14BL can be taken after 14C and 14D.

Thank you so much! I know that the lab doesn’t have to be taken at the same time as lecture, but I have to if I want to stay on track :/

I know seniors who were taking chem 14CL during their last year at UCLA. As long as you get your classes done, it doesn’t matter when you take it. Depending on your major, 14CL might not even be a requirement for your upper division classes.

Thanks! What a relief
Well, I’m going to declare my major in the fall as physiological sciences, and I’m taking the pre-med route so, unfortunately, it’s a required class for me.
