Confused about UCLA regents application process

Hi guys hope you are having an awesome day.

I got the UCLA alumni scholarship email, but I’m really confused about how UCLA regents works. Do I have to apply for regents or is there no separate application?

At that link, it shows there’s some kind of question you have to answer about “How would you go about maximizing your undergraduate experience at UCLA?” for the freshmen regents scholarship.

So do I need to apply?

A CC poster called admissions and said it was a glitch from the FA office, so Regents is automatic and you will be notified at time of admission. You do not need to apply.

Ok awesome, thanks for the info Gumbymom!

I got the email yesterday, does this apply to me too? I’m really confused about this whole thing, I even started outlining my essays because I started panicking. What did the CC poster ask on the call?

@Melanie786: If you got the invite, then you should be able to submit your application. The glitch has been fixed and the invite is legit. UCLA has changed things this year so you need to submit the application and you will hear the decision once you are admitted.

Aww man, that’s not a lot of time to write three essays :frowning: They are due Mar 1

@Melanie786: I agree that UCLA needs to more transparent about the process especially if they are changing their policies. Nothing on the website indicates there is a supplemental application with additional essays. Luckily for the rest of the UC’s with exception of UCB, Regents is automatic with no additional application for Freshman.

My son received Regents invite back in 2017, and we didn’t fill out any finanal aids forms. My speculation is because of fire delays, last year, 2018, is probably the first time UCLA selected Regents scholars without additional applications (there are threads in this forum back in 2013, 14, and 15 re. Regents invites, and we know someone in 16 was invited). It’s truly confusing this year, but congrats to those who are invited!
