I was recently invited to apply for the UCLA regents scholarship and was curious how likely I am to be awarded the scholarship and how many invites are normally sent out.
I just got it as well!
My daughter got one today as well. Does anyone know if everyone that is admitted to UCLA receives an invitation to apply for the Regents Scholarship? I am thinking not as that would be a ton of applications to have to evaluate in around a month.
I did see on the UCLA web site that up to a hundred are awarded each year and that are currently around 500 enrolled on campus. In additional financial benefits it also includes:
-
Students receive priority enrollment starting with their second and subsequent quarters, guaranteed Housing (as long as the Housing application is submitted by the Housing Office deadlines), guaranteed parking (as long as the Parking application is submitted by the Parking Office deadlines), and Faculty Mentorship is established by the Regents Scholar Society to each and every Regents Scholar, as requested.
-
All Regents Scholars are eligible to join the Regents Scholar Society and are strongly encouraged to establish membership in this official campus student organization.
It is not sent to everyone which is why you received a code.
When does Regents make their decision on who will receive the scholarship for class of 2026?
Hey there I was wondering the same thing so just called the financial aid office. They told me that the first round was released 2 weeks after admissions decisions. However, there will be a second round released in May or June.
Hi, since admission decisions were out on March 18, and deadline to apply for Regents was March 29, does it mean the first round was released very shortly after March 29? Thanks.
Good question! I don’t know.
One of my children was a Regents candidate a couple of years ago. This is when they asked students to apply before admitting them. After students were admitted, some could log into financial aid and see the scholarship listed and others could not. That was the only way we suspected that my child did not receive the scholarship. It was quite a while after admissions that my student received a business size envelope in the mail with a very generic rejection letter. It read very similar to a college rejection letter but was for the Regents scholarship.
From a recruiting or marketing standpoint, I didn’t think it was handled very well. Those who are invited to apply are in the top percentage of admitted students. You would think UCLA would want them to attend even without the scholarship. I expected “sorry you did not receive the scholarship” along with, “but here are many ways in which top students such as you will thrive at UCLA.” I wondered how many Regents candidates were turned off by the rejection letter.
Has anyone heard back on the Regents Scholarship or have more info. My daughter still hasn’t. Invite email said decisions would be made by third week of April.
I haven’t heard back either
I haven’t gotten an email with the decision yet even though it’s already past the third week of April. Very strange.
Has anyone gotten a decision after 4/22? Still haven’t heard anything.
I got rejected
Sorry
I could care less! Honored to even be invited
