I got a letter from Tulane a week ago with the introduction "On behalf of the facultyand administration of Tulane University, I am pleased to offer you admission into the undergraduate college of tulane university for the fall, 2006 term." The least comments are as follows; "It is my pleasure to cordially invite you to become a member of the Tulane famile. I look forward to seeing you on campus in the fall." This letter is also signed by the CP of Enrollment Management. The letter did not, however, contain a user name and password for a personal accepted student site. Furthermore, I recieved a letter today (dated from the same day as the admission letter, January 11, 2006) that claimed my Tulane application deadline had been extended to February 1. A particularly confusing line is as follows; "I'm so eager to review your application that I'm extending the deadline for your to take advantage of your Personal Application until February 1." So what is a Personal Application, and do you think I have to do it to maintain my status as accepted?

Yes, you've been accepted. My daughter hasn't received her PIN yet, either, and she was accepted in December. Ignore the Personal Application.

If you'd feel better hearing this from a Tulane person you can either call the toll-free number for Tulane admissions (it's an auotmated system where you can enter your SSN and find out your application status) or post this question on the message boards on the Tulane admissions website.

Yes, that sounds just like my daughter's acceptance letter except hers said she was being accepted to Newcomb College. By chance, that was the day Tulane publicly announced that Newcomb is being abolished as a separate entity. I think she was still getting the personal app solicitations afterward also, and I know she has not gotten any kind of PIN because I just happened to ask her about that yesterday.

I couldn't for the life of me figure out where to get my pin until I emailed tulane in like june. A week later a letter arrived with it in there. It's ok to not have the PIN now.

Any idea on when half-tuition scholarships come out?

My daughter received the DSA last year and she received notice shortly after her acceptance.

I also got that letter even though my app was in. It also said I had missing materials that I couldn't submit because I missed the deadline (Dean's Honor Scholarship).

My friend Johanna got rejected from Vasser ED and they sent her an e-mail saying "If you haven't yet applied, please follow this link. We look forward to reviewing her application." Colleges just don't cross reference things very well.
