I am going to be a senior this fall and I am so stressed about college majors, applications etc. My whole life I wanted to be a pediatrician but after a summer internship I realized that it was not for me. I love the health care field but I dont think that I want to work one on one with patients. I am considering pharmacy but I am not really sure about that either. I have been getting so much stress from my parents, family etc because they all want me to be a doctor but med school really isnt for me. Now with college applications due in a few months it is really starting to hit me and make me so stressed. Help???
Even if you want to be a pediatrician or a pharamacist, youll have the same pre reqs, chem, bio, english, math, so for the first semester your classes would be pretty standard for both majors, now pharmacy programs are super strict, some are 6 year accelerated so you muzt take the classes they give you in the exact orders or you wont graduate with an MD in 6 years, its your choice if you really dont like either one fine, but id give it a shot the first semester to see if thats what you really want if not you can change majors, switching from a sciencr to an arts or business is way easier than switching from a business or arts to science. Hope this helps.
If OP is uncertain about their choice, I a combined program (6 year BS + MD/PharmD) is not a good choice. That’s designed for people who are very certain about what they want to do.
OP, there’s nothing wrong with applying to colleges undecided. If you think pharmacy might be for you, some schools offer options such as applying undecided within a certain college/school (such as their science or health sciences section). Universities also have a lot of resources for undecided students to choose the best major for them. When figuring out where to apply, look at other factors besides just majors - size, location, culture, liberal arts college or not, etc.
