I'm a senior deciding where to go and what to do for the future. I chose Chemical Engineering as a major because I have an interest in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. But I am not sure if that means I will actually like Chemical Engineering. I also applied to Rutgers 6 yr pharm program. I was accepted into Rutgers Pharm & Honors Prog for Engin, Villanova-Engin, and Lehigh - Integrated Degree Program in Engin & Arts & Sciences. The only problem is I am not sure where to go. When it comes to costs, there isn't a huge difference. Of course, for Lehigh I am still waiting for my Fin Aid pckg, and def my decision will take into consideration what I would be paying there. What I wanted to ask is....
a) how did you choose your major?
b) is villanova reputed for its engineering program? and is it better in engineering compared to rutgers? I did not receive a nomination for villanova's honors program. And how reputed id Lehigh's IDEAS program?
c) pharmacy or engineering? If it comes down to Rutgers, then this will be my biggest question. Any advice in terms of subject matter and just career in general?
I heard pharmacy is getting saturated, so I am fearful abt entering a field and being unemployed in the future. But, then again, it's hard for Chemical Engineers to get a job as well. Is it true though, that after Chem. Engin you can go into anything after (i.e. medecine or business)?

Thank You all in Advance :)
Hopefully people can share their experiences and the stress they felt behind choosing their college...

Knowing the 3 schools fairly well, if you are planning engineering, lehigh would be my 1st choice…i am not a big fan of Rutgers, though if you plan on a pharmacy education, perhaps Rutgers is for you…at said ,both Villanova and Lehigh are better schools then Rutgers, though Rutgers is the more affordable of the 3

Who told you that pharmacy is a field that is getting saturated, and what did they mean by that? From where I sit, pharmacy appears to be one career field that is not going away, and a which you will be able to earn a steady (if not hideously large) income. If you decide that you don’t want to hand medications out to people at the local CVS or Walgreens, there will be plenty of positions in the bio-med industry that can use your knowledge and training.

oh wow, happymomof1, that’s quite interesting…thank you for sharing! i thought pharmacists in pharmaceutical companies didn’t make much money…but good info to know
One of my friends is in her last yr @ Rutgers and she told me that its hard for pharms to find jobs… But then again, isn’t everything saturated (technically speaking)?

And thank you for the calculator. I will check it out!
More advice is greatly appreciated! Especially experiences deciding a major or college, and even more information regarding pharmacy and engineering.
