People are constantly ragging on santa cruz and sometimes it really gets me down. I really want to look forward to going to UCSC but as each day passes I get less excited. Can someone explain to me what UCSC is really like. The atmosphere? Is the campus dead and boring or active? What are the people like? Teachers? Parties? Course load? Extra-curriculars? Thanks for your help

Thousands of qualified students were rejected this year by the UC system due to the state’s financial and budget crisis. How bout just being thankful you were one of the few who made it.

Good point. My daughter was denied. Be happy. No whining.

What do you mean? Is this at your school? I’m curious, as I have yet to come into contact with negativity towards the school.

But to answer your question, you should really take some time to visit. :)

Most of the negativity directed towards UC Santa Cruz is regarding the fact that UCSC isn’t ranked in the top 10 on US News. I generally hate people who obsess over stupid **** like that, so I am glad that they will not be attending UCSC. Less annoying people for me to deal with.

As for the original topic, I am curious about the campus itself as well.
