I was wondering if I should start at a regular college or in community college before I transfer to a great school? I will really appreciate if someone answers me.
You applied to Cornell ED and were rejected? What is the status now of your applications?
We don’t have enough info. From your other post you are a senior. What schools did you get accepted to? How much can your family afford? What would your plan be from a CC?
@“Erin’s Dad” pretty much nailed it. You haven’t given us enough information to give you a meaningful answer.
I did notice in another post that you were rejected from Cornell. Cornell was my dream school when I went to graduate school. I was rejected and went to my second choice. I loved it, and ever since have been very glad that Cornell rejected me.
However, we will need to know what other choices you have, and whether you can afford them, before giving a sensible answer. Also, your intended major or majors would be helpful.
Hi! I also don’t know much about your situation, but I will give a bit of advice. I went into my school thinking I may try transferring, but I didn’t take into account how hard it may be. It’s difficult to move away from the people you’ve gotten to know for a year and the place you’ve known for that long. I would make sure to take that into account before planning on going to one school and transferring to another. You may think you’d be fine with it now, but it’s much harder when you’re actually there.
Another thing to consider is there is generally less financial aid for transfers, whether merit or need-based. Of course, the schools that meet full need do so for transfers as well, but that is a small proportion of schools.
