CONGRATS ED! Current Cornellian- Ask QUESTIONS!

Hey guys. I'm a Junior in the ILR School and I'm involved in a bunch of things on campus. I'm always checking this board and I'm always looking to help out. I remember when I first got accepted to Cornell and I was on here asking hundreds of questions. Anyway, if those of you who were accepted ED have any questions then feel free to ask them here and I will answer them the best I can. I can't really answer any financial aid questions. You can also send me a private message if you don't want to ask here. Congrats again!

When is the BEST time to visit?
I seriously can't wait to step on campus!

The best time to visit would be April. All accepted students will invited to something called "Cornell Days" in April. Cornell Days is about 8-days and newly accepted students visit campus with their parents,go to workshops, sit-in on classes, eat in dining calls, check out residence halls, meet current students, listen to acapella groups, and a lot more. I know it's overwhelming now but just wait until Cornell Days to visit.

I really CANNOT wait. I'm so excited! What about if I want to stay a night in the dorms?

omg Cornell Days! Are they during spring break? I really hope my school is cool with that because that sounds really nice.

When are we going to get the financial aid package?...

I am into ILR ED, how's your expierence been so far?

ahhhhh now to consider these questions wholeheartedly is a relief.

I would like to know how we get freshman housing assignments. Is it like those schools where you fill out a form of preferences, or do they just stick you somewhere? I guess they probably have that on their website somewhere but I bet others would also like to get this answer straight from a current student.

Thanks for making this thread!

If you want to spend a night in the dorms during Cornell Days then contact the Red Carpet Society. Look it up on cornell.edu search.

Here's the Cornell Days site from last year:

I don't know when your spring break is but Cornell Days is sometime in April. Even though its 8 days long, you're really only meant to spend a day or two there because the events get repetitive.

ILR is great. Private message me if you have any specific questions about it.

Hey I'll help too! I'm a sophomore transfer into ILR. ps ILR is realllly good. Ives is realllly nice and brand new. The library in ILR is also ammmazing...when people from other colleges stop by they are shocked at how nice it is (altho it's nice in a new way...not gothic way lol). ILR is really fun b/c it's a small school within a big school so u get the nice small vibe and see ur friends and teachers in the hall but then you are also part of this giant school that offers countless opportunities. It's absolutely amazing!

cornell days was the best event ever! it was fun because even though it is "meant" for RD applicants, i went just to meet all of the ED friends that i made in person :)

keep the questions coming or private message me.

seems like most of the current cornell students who post on these boards are in ILR.....just an observation, maybe wondering why, because I post here, and alas, I am going to ILR.

so i'm not a new ED applicant, but cornellstudent09: i just got my grades and it's a 2.8... i know real crappy and i was wondering how that was gonna affect my internal transfer from arts and sciences biological science/pre-med major to AEM or PAM

Hi, I am wondering what are Cornell's policies on community college credits? I go to a hybrid high school/community college and I will have about 100 transferable college units by the time I graduate. Will I be able to transfer a majority to these towards my major at the College of Arts and Sciences.

60 transferable max. You transfer as a junior. GL!

Wait, but I applied as a freshie cuz my hs sais so...

How difficult is it to get A's at Cornell?
Does Cornell send many grads to Law School?

You can only transfer in 60 credits and you can't transfer in CC credits that simultaneously counted for highschool credit/class.

Wow are you serious?? Ack what a waste!

Any survival tips? :P
