Congrats to 2015 UMN Grads and their parents!

It truly seems like yesterday that we were hauling stuff into his Middlebrook dorm. Friday night H and I will be watching our youngest child walk across the stage and collect his diploma. He will be graduating from the College of Science and Engineering with an Electrical Engineering degree - BSEE.

Congratulations Kajon to you, your husband and of course to your graduate! My son graduated last year from CSE with his Mechanical Engineering degree. Be prepared for a long ceremony. Last year the student speaker was outstanding, but it took about 2 hours to get through all the names. Worth it though!! Congrats again.

Congratulations to your son and to you and your husband Kajon. And thank you for all the great advice and wisdom on this forum.

Congrats @Kajon to your S and your family!! We’ll be celebrating the same moments this weekend with D1’s Phi Beta Kappa initiation on Saturday and CBS graduation on Sunday (BS in Genetics) <:-P

UMinn has been a fantastic experience for her, and she/we wouldn’t trade her time there for anything. Not much time to relax though…grad school prep and apartment hunting are on the very near horizon!!

Yes @ it has been an amazing experience. We seem to be running parallel lives…S is doing the 5 year BS/MS for EE so he has one more year at UMN for his EE masters and then hopefully off to the London School of Economics for a Masters in Finance.

He has just now started thinking about apartments for next year…sigh.

Enjoy this special time with your D and good wishes for her future endeavors, Kajon

Congrats all!! DD also graduates Phi Beta Kappa from CBS this weekend (BS in Biology). After a short summer, she’ll be starting a DPT program in the fall.

She’s been taking pictures around campus with some friends this week … here’s one of my favorites so far: https://flic.kr/p/sEfTTz

@sedluhs - Love the pix…thanks for sharing! Congrats to your family!

Congrats to all the PBK’s and I hope that you are purchasing nice big gold keys for your scholars

Seating for parents at Mariucci Arena for picture taking: When you get in look for the long table at the far end of the stage covered with maroon diplomas. The graduates will walk toward this table. Last night it was right in front of section 18/19. There is a jumbo tron so it was fun to watch them approach the stage and shake the first hand, but the hand shake receiving the diploma was not on the jumbo tron. My H was able to snap a couple photos just in case the professional one does not turn out.

Text your kids your seat location and have them come up to your seat or the top of your section after the ceremony. (Most seemed to do this)

If you are driving, approach the arena/TCF stadium parking from the east or from 5th street behind the arena because coming from the west the left turn arrow on University by Buffalo Wild Wings only lets a few cars through and the families crossing the street did not obey the signals so you can lose a full half hour waiting for your turn.

FYI - this weekend Highway 94 is closed between 35 E and highway 280. Coming from the east we took 694 north/west to highway 36 west to 280 south (near 35W) and exited on Territorial/University and then a right on University and either work your way up to 5th street after the Days Inn or turn right after the TCF Stadium and drop off passengers at that light to hold places.

Enjoy!

Congratulations to your graduates, @kajon, @sedluhs and @Wolverine86 !!

So much of CC is about the lead up to college- it’s really great to hear from those who’ve made it to the other side. I hope your grads have valued their experience here at the U, and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. Ski-U-Mah!

Congrats to all the graduates and parents. You have some exceptional students! As a family just starting the journey I very much appreciate all the helpful advice each of you have given. I just hope and pray my son does as well as your sons & daughters have. PBK is no small achievement!

Does it feel like it goes by as quickly as HS did? I still remember 9th grade orientation and now it’s already time for college!

MomMe32, yes it goes that quickly!
