Penn15: Even though the rest of the school will ridicule you with an obvious nickname next year, congratulations and see you during Penn preview days and/or next fall!

For those of you who did not get what you hoped for today, all I can say is that I'm sorry. I know there is nothing that will console you right now, but I was in the same position you were last year. I applied EA to yale, and was deferred, then ultimately rejected. At the time, it felt like everything I had worked for my whole life had been a waste. I felt sadness at first, then anger and a sense of injustice. People told me that everything works out in the end, but of course I didn't believe them. It turns out they were right. I'm here at Penn (wharton) now and not only do I love the people as well as the classes, I couldn't imagine fitting in anywhere else. So hang in there. In the end, you will love whichever school you end up in!

If anyone wants to chat, feel free to PM me. I haven't been on here in ages

I got deferred from Wharton T.T
it seems like my life is now so unstable because I am not set on a college.
Now, i gotta really work on apps T.T

My son got his “Congratulations” message today from UPenn and Wharton…we are all on a cloud. All of his hard work and crazy hours over the last 4 years is finally paying off. Now it’s time to get the other applications pulled, make sure we do everything on the “My To-Do List”, and wait on the financial aid award letter.

For those of you who didn’t get it…don’t worry too much…my son was a part of the QuestBridge College Prep program last year and wasn’t selected as a finalist this year. We went through all of the emotions from complete sadness to raging anger…but then he applied to UPenn ED and 3 other schools EA…and it is all working out now.

Stupefy, weren’t you the person who got very unlucky and got waitlisted/rejected at several ivies last year even with the badass resume you had, before being admitted to Wharton?

@brendalicious- focus on your other apps now, there is nothing else you can do. I remember after Dec 15 last year, I added several schools to my list because i felt so insecure.

@saints- HAHA wow people have really good memories here. yes, that was me. I’m glad you thought my resume was badass. and I don’t know if it really was bad luck or what, but I was SO thrilled when I got off the wharton waitlist. I suspect it was because I won a pretty major FBLA award earlier that year. anyway, I plan to go to the admissions office here one day and ask to see my application. I wonder if they’d show me what comments the adcoms made about me

congrats all!!
see you in Philly next Fall
One question - Do you have to attend the preview days cuz I am an international student and going to USA and back is a bit of a hassle.
And to Callifornian - how hard is it to transfer to M&T?? i have seen all the links but i just want to know a student’s perspective. How many people from SEAS end up transferring??

Do you have any idea how difficult M&T is? It’s one of the most difficult programs for Penn students. Go through your first Penn semester before even thinking about M&T.

^Wouldn’t know, I never went. I’ve heard it’s pretty fun, lots of free stuff given out

That’s pretty pretentious…I assume you’re M&T hahahaha
There are actually quite a few M&T in each class- like 50? In any event, some are brilliant yes, but most are not (or at least do not seem) smarter or more well-rounded than regular old Wharton students. I’m convinced it’s a matter of interest. Same goes for LSM and huntsman

stupefy,
I know your intentions are good but to be honest your posts just make me think how great of a place upenn is and how unique of an atmospher wharton is. It doesnt give me any faith that i will find another I like anywhere as near as much as I liked penn and especially wharton.

I understand i have to send a mid year report. If my marks in that are lower than my previous one (like 10% lower) can they revoke my admission??
eg my Phy falls from 94 to 84 and Math from 96 to 84??

@jcadrep- please don’t despair yet! The point of me writing all of that good stuff about penn is to show you that you will love your college no matter what. Last year, I read similarly great things about yale and I thought I wouldn’t be happy anywhere else- but now I feel the same way about wharton! here’s a great example- a few years ago, one of my friends applied ED to wharton but didn’t get in. he ended up at yale (lucky him!), loved it, and realized that is actually a good thing he didn’t get into wharton ED. so just wait until this time next year- you will feel differently

@chelsearox- I’ve never heard of colleges revoking admission for something that minor. I think you would have to fail out of school or commit a felony, to be honest
