Congressional Academy for American History and Civics

Has anyone heard of it?
I just found out today that I was accepted into the academy, and I was wondering if anyone on CC has ever been in the program. If so, please give me feedback as to how it was when you attended...

Thank you

I also would like to know…I just received my letter today saying I was accepted, but don’t really know much about the program. Anyone have any personal experiences they could tell us about?

Yay! Congrats… What state are you representing?
There is a facebook page in case you would like to know. Join the Congressional Academy 2009 Group.

guess your not a baseball fan haha…i’m representing texas.

i don’t have a facebook though, just always tried to stay away from getting one. i figure if i do, i’ll become hooked and it will become a vice.

what about you, what state are you from?

Oh yeaaa…lol
I live in Houston for 3 years; I should have known that.

You should def get a facebook. Don’t worry its not addictive.

I am representing California. Do you know who the other texas delegate is?

Omg, why didn’t I hear about this? It looks so amazing, everything about it.

i don’t know who the other person in texas is…is there a master list anywhere? or is it safe to assume that we won’t know until the first day who most of the people are?

Sqdwfe - If you are a freshman or sophmore you still have a chance.

Astrofan- I have no idea. Last year, one guy from Ohio knew the other delegate (but they were from the same school). I heard that they choose a male and a female for each state, but this could just be hearsay. The official website has not been updated so I doubt there is a master list avaliable for us.All I know is 2 students and four alternates are chosen for each state.

i guess i’ll keep my ears open and see if i find out who the other person is in my state

I got my acceptance letter the other day, and I’m from Florida. Is there any way of finding out the other person from your state?

Hey astrosfan157, I’m the other Texas delegate! I ran across this board when I was googling to see if I could find the other Texas delegate. I got pretty lucky I guess. Looking forward to the program?

haha yeah. where are you from cowtipper?

I’m from Houston, and I’m gonna assume you are as well what with your screen name and all. If you decide to get a facebook, you’ll find a bunch of the other delegates in the “Congressional Academy 2009” group, but if not, no worries. What are your travel plans for that day?

i think im going on a continental flight out there the morning of
