Congressional Academy 2011

So I applied to the Academy this year. Who else has applied? I'm from Maine, where are you guys from?

I just finished my essay, and I’m from Alabama! I plan to submit my application tomorrow! :)

i finished my app, and I’m from texas! But if i do make it, I have to choose between this and fbla nats :/

I applied  from Idaho. I wonder how many people actually apply from each state on average?

Hey everyone! I went to the Academy last year. It was really one of the greatest two weeks of my life…the professors were fantastic, I met amazing and incredibly nice people from all over the country who I still am friends with, and I still remember everything I learned. In short, I had a blast. Everyone who is interested in politics or history or just learning something new in general should apply…I hope everyone here gets in! I just wanted to say that =]

Also, if you have any questions about it, there’s a group on facebook, “Congressional Academy 2010,” and I know a lot of people would love to answer any questions you might have. There are also videos of last year’s experience, like where we went and how people felt about it, on the group too if you want to check them out.

Good luck to everyone!

I’m applying from DE! I imagine it must be even worse from CA or somewhere.

Does anyone know how many applications the academy typically gets? And I’m a bit concerned that I “should have” applied by April 1, although the deadline is April 15. I just found out about it recently.

Does anybody know if it’s binding if I get in?

Washington app in the house
Hope i win! and my friend too (eugene i know you’re out there)

it’s not binding
that’s why there are alternates
need to finish my app soon!

App sent now I wait D:

@somestudent: That deadline was for last year’s class. They have just failed to update their information. The app is due April 15th 5pm Eastern time. Good Luck!

App submitted! Now the wait begins. Good luck to everyone applying. I hope to see you there.

Decisions were supposed to be made today and status sent out as well, so it should be only a matter of days. SC hopeful, myself. Good luck everyone!

Actually it should be around 2 more weeks until decisions come out (they updated the FAQ so it fits this year’s timeline)

Yeah, does anyone know when the decisions are coming out? I applied back in March, so I’ve been really anxious for about a month know.

They will be mailed by the end of this month says the program representative.

tomatopuree-
i thought that if you applied before april 1, you get decisions by april 15.

& i am from arizona!

I applied as well! I’m from Texas. I really hope to get in and it truly looks like a great experience!

Does anyone know how heavy the flow of applications is?

I applied too, and I’m from Florida! I think we’ll get our acceptance letters 15 to 20 days after April 15th. This makes sense if the acceptance letters for other years were due April 1st, and they received them by April 17th.

on the application, it asked you to put your representative’s name…do they contact them to make their decisions?

I think they use that information to base their decisions so that they don’t end up taking two or three possibly students from the same district. But thats an assumption. And yeah, its only been 4 days, and I can’t wait for decisions.
