Okay so here's the deal: I posted this topic in the Summer Programs Forum and only got one response. So I was hoping, since more of you seem to check this forum, that I could get some more opinions. My original thread:

Can someone offer me some more information on this? I know the basics (looked it up online). But I mean, how hard is it to get in? Is there something in specific that they are looking for? Do only the well-connected get in to the the program? Do I stand a better shot applying through the House of Rep. or the Senate?

I'm from NJ, by the way. My Rep. is Republican and both Lautenburg and Menedez (senators) are Democrat. And I know that the majority party gets to have more people admitted. I'm going to be a junior next year.

If anybody can offer me some answers, I would be very thankful.

I'd stay away from that after what Con. Foley did with his pages. Just saying...

Each state is different. Email your representative and senator to show your interest and find out what you will have to send in/do to participate in the program.

See if you can get contact info from your rep/senator about people from your state who've gotten into the program. They'd probably give you great tips. You also may be able to find them by Googling.

Northstarmom: I'm pretty sure that contact information would be kept private. But I have tried googling a lot of this information.

Janelle09: I'm aware of the process and how to get involved. I was just looking for advice on how to get admitted from people who had participated in the program.

Thanks for your replies. Anybody else?

You don't know if the contact info is private unless you contact the members of Congress. After all, there may be pages who are very willing to tell others about their experiences. Some may even be working right now in the offices of the members of Congress. Some may be right in your hometown.
