In the Barrons Math II study guide there's a section over Conics. I have forgotten conics and I do not want to learn it again unless I absolutely have to. I am asking this because Barrons is supposed to be really hard and prepares you for harder stuff. Are conics on the actual SAT?

never say never

I never said never ■■■■■

I can’t guarantee that conics will be on the SAT II but they should be; they’re a very frequent topic on the Math Level 2 so definitely relearn them if you have to. However, I’m pretty sure the really in-detail stuff like latus rectum won’t be on there… but you probably want to know how to identify the equation (hyperbola, ellipse, etc.), how to change it into standard form (totally don’t know how to say that… but you have to complete the square, etc.), and major axes + minor axes.

I was pretty disappointed when no conics appeared on the Jan SAT Math Level 2 since I had spent some time memorizing them. I found that pretty unusual, too.
Bottom line: study them and good luck.
