Consequences of online Honors US History over the summer?

I’m currently a sophomore. I plan on taking Honors US History online over the summer to meet the graduation requirement at my school. It is not a course offered at my school, but I am taking it because I know I won’t get an A if i take APUSH but I also do not want to drop my weighted GPA by taking regular US History. I also do not want to suffer through an entire school year of history, I’d much rather get it over with over the summer. I didn’t take a social studies course this year either, but I took one last year (World History Honors - ended with a B and A-). Considering these, colleges will probably easily see that I am not well rounded and and just trying to avoid the social studies department at all costs. Will this significantly hurt my chances at top schools, especially the ivy leagues? I took 2 maths (Precalculus Honors and AP computer science A) as well as 2 sciences (AP Chemistry & AP Physics 1) this year and got all As, if that helps to balance out my lack of skill in social studies.

No matter what classes you take, obviously they will show up on your transcript. I don’t see any consequences of taking any online classes besides you drifting off and not doing the work. Make sure social studies aint a big part of graduation.

You might add AP Psych at some point to help boost your total number of social studies classes, but taking online and summer classes doesn’t usually hurt in general unless your school doesn’t factor online grades into your GPA. At my daughter’s school, they count toward credits for graduation, but are not used in the GPA.

Will you be taking history junior and senior year? Most top colleges look for 4 history classes since it is a core class and taking extra core classes in other areas does not make up for lack of core classes in history/social studies.
