The rednecks and hippies are the extremes of both sides, and I hate them both equally. Both are worthless trashthat doesn't deserve to live

"Liberals want to make hard working people support all the lazy lowlifes who don't want to work. Conservatives want the lazy people to get a job and support themselves like they do.

well sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you truly think that "rednecks" and "hippies" dont deserve to live, then youre obviously not a libertarian and dont know libertarian policy. or do you not agree with the main point of libertarianism? does this fall under the part where you said that you "dont agree with everything they say"?

i dont see any wealthy liberals giving away all of their money to the poor and jobless.

Though liberals generally favor higher taxes, the conservatives only favor tax breaks to those who don't need them.

Liberals do believe that those who work hard should be rewarded, no doubt in that. But, the difference is they believe everybody should have an equal chance rather than the "old money" way of the conservatives. In other words, they dont want somebody whose born into poverty be doomed simply by the fact that they were born into a poor family (reminds me of the caste system).

Fact: i think around 60% of homeless people have full-time jobs. Liberals seek programs to fix these inequalities.

Yeah, and I'm sure about 90% of those 60% of homeless people with full-jobs waste their money on drugs, alchohol, and tobacco. These "programs" aren't going to fix that problem, unfortunately. For the other 10% of those 60%, I'm not sure if there is a real governmental solution to help them. That's a sad fact, but, in my opinion, true.

Disclaimer: These are not real statistics. Just an opinion/observation.

flipchick - you would really be surprised. Most are homeless due to minimum wages and increasing housing prices. Imagine a minimum wage job and trying to afford an appartment with heating, phone, utilities, water plus cars, health insurance plus every other thing that we have to afford. Put a family into the equation and forget about it. Most aren't homeless on the streets, but live out of their cars or at a relative's or friend's house. Those who do live in the streets are usually the ones spending all of their money on drugs and they dont have jobs in the first place (unless crack whore counts).

If you have any doubt, just think about the fact labor relations is my major, and this is a BIG topic we had to cover for one of our thesis papers.

youre 18 years old and living in indiana, not exactly a state filled with homeless people, unless you live in indianapolis. ive lived in los angeles, new york, and chicago and i can tell you from experience that you are absolutely wrong in your assumption.

I do live in Indianapolis, actually. However, I do realize that even in Indianapolis there aren't very many homeless people compared to other large cities. And gomestar--if the homeless count includes the people living with relatives/out of cars, then I can see how your number would be more accurate. I was just thinking about the people actually out on the streets.

I always thought that liberals hate everything dealing with White people and their culture. They create stuff like multiculturalism that does nothing but destroy culture and they also hate statistics.

Although popular thought, G.W. Bush is not a conservative, he's a neo-con globalist.

Sounds about 100% right, kind of like Scandinavia.

sorry to sound cruel, but if these people that are becoming homeless b/c they are on minimum wage, they should have gone to college! :) (sorry, I had to say it.)

Now that I hear all these things about liberals and conservatives, I think it's all bu11$hit. I believe that people should work hard in school, get a good job, yatta yatta. Anyone can do it, even lower income people, like me. That's what I love about America--opportunity. I believe everyone should have an equal opportunity, but they should work their as$es off, like I'm doing! I don't need a politicial group to back me up on that.

Not everyone can go to college. I have a friend (female) who does not have the money, so she must earn scholarships. However, her mother does not want her to go to college. She has no one to help her get there. She has to get rides to school and to extra activities. She doesn't have access to a computer or rides to interviews. It is not as easy as you think Fuzzman8me. It is very difficult to graduate well with a family like that, much less go to college on a full scholarship and some to pay for living. Maybe you can in your situation, but in my relatively poor town, it is near impossible for a large amount of students.

I just feel with a will, there's a way. While I won't give my life story, I will say that I have made it a long way from where I was. And I'm still workin' my a$$ of to make it in this dog-eat-dog world. So with a poor background, I feel comfortable saying that there is no reason to BE and STAY homeless. I sneer at the popular kids who take school for granted, knowing they're gonna end up being the future homeless. So while I feel sympathy for people that are homeless, I have to sternly say "I told you so". Back in my old country, I couldn't say that and be truthful. But here in the land of opportunity, I feel damn proud to say it! In the end, there are no excuses! Accept what you're born into, but strive for better! (sorry to preach.) Oh, boognish, good luck to your friend, though.

Have you ever heard of state school/community colleges and loans? Anybody can go to college in the US. If you can't pay now, get loans. It's not that terribly dificult no matter how poor you are, it just takes a little effort something that if your not willing to to, well then your just a loser and always will be
