Considering a double major in philosophy and history

Hi,

I intend to apply to transfer to UCLA as a philosophy major. I'm highly certain that I'll get in because I have a high GPA, I'll have pre-reqs completed by fall, and I'm in a TAP program at my school.

I'm considering a double major in philosophy and history because I love those two subjects. Before I was a philosophy major, I was a history major. The thing is that I'm not too certain it's a good idea. Also, I'm considering a double major since I want to become a history teacher. I checked out UCLA's history major requirements and I'm highly certain I can complete both majors without exceeding the 216 unit cap.

Can anyone give me an idea of how ridiculous the workload will be? Any other drawbacks to double majoring in these fields? Although I'm strongly tempted to make this decision, I know I shouldn't without being adequately informed.

I’m considering a double major as well. What I did was find the total unit load of each major separate, then together, and then as a major and minor. I used that to find a rough idea of what the average quarter load would be. If you think you can handle the load then why not do it. I don’t think you’ll be able to declare a double major until the end of winter quarter, so you can see how the current pace feels and make a definite decision there.

OK. Thanks!
