I am considering applying to the USMA from another military college and I would like to know if I even have a chance of getting an appointment. My SAT Score was a 1390 (700 math, 690 verbal). My high school GPA was lacking, but my collegiate GPA is currently a 3.3 and I am hoping it will improve this semester. I am in good physical shape and can pass the Army PT test with no problem. I know that a high school Varsity letter is necessary for people applying right out of high school; this is something I lack, though I do have a letter in a collegiate club sport. Is it necessary for a prospective transfer such as myself? Do you think these credentials will at least make me competitive?

You're competative, go for it!

If you're serious a good starting point is The West Point Candidate Handbook by William Smallwood. It's available on Amazon.com and has a lot of answers to just these type of questions.

Cougar I may be wrong about this, but when I searched on Amazon for that book it only came up with a Navy and Air Force book. It said the Navy book was by William Smallwood. I'm in interested in the book, could you put up a link to it or something?

The book is very helpful.

Thank you momoftwins! I appreciate it a lot.

Here it is on Amazon. Looks like either place would work.
