people look and dont say anything because who are they to tell you..i think if you just get up your GPA and your SATs you should be fine

Misty Rain: I think your stats look very much in the ball park and your sats will probably go up if you study for them and take many practice tests. We have found the administration at NCto be incredibly opened and up front about candidacy. It is early in the process for you. In the middle of of Junior year, you should call Admissions and have a frank discussion--having mailed them your c.v. perhaps--and ask them how they view your record and if they have suggestions about areas they would like to see strengthened. It is a very small school and many of the kids do seem to have a similar style but it just won rinceton Reviews "Best Value--Number 1"! and so I bet it is going to become hotter and more diverse. You need to want to do a lot of independent study. Good luck

I dunno if New College will get much more diverse based on reaction to the Princeton Review rating. The school has been in the top 10 "Best Value" colleges in several such publications since I went there in the early 90s. It attracts primarly white, intellectual, middle class kids from families that can't afford ivey league prices. That's not to say that they don't want or welcome other types of student just that's what they end up with. Talk to admissions, they will be perfectly straight with you about what they think. If you can, visit the campus. That will give a much better feel for the place. If you like designing you own course of study, independent study projects and are somewhat self-motivated it could be a good fit for you. Good luck!
