Console or PC...Which Do you prefer?

Yea I heard that some colleges don't allow consoles in dorms. Plus is there even enough room. Usually, every friday I like to relax and play a game or two on my xbox. Since next gen xbox is coming out in like a week, do you think its worth buying a console in my senior year before college. Or should I buy a gaming laptop so there is more room? Or should I buy a mobile and light laptop and use my console for a dvd player and entertainment device.,

Thanks

there's usually enough room for a console. I would go with Console + Mobile and Light laptop. One of the advantages I think that comes with console is that it'd be good for doing social stuff, like having your friends over in the dorm, etc.

any more opinions?

Console :)
If you get an Xbox360, bring that.

My Xbox360 will be coming in 9 days... :)
(Xbox is HUGE on my floor (with the guys at least))

Console, PC games are lame

I must admit I like my PS2 better than my PC. But I won't have enough money for the next gens.

PC by far. All the best multiplayer games are on PC. Try playing 6 person civ4 and you will see life dissappear before your eyes faster than any other game. ACtually civ4 by yourself will also do that.

That's idiotic. That would be like not allowing a radio in the dorms. Fascists. >:-O

I like consoles and PC for different reasons. Console is great for fighting games and "chill" games. PC is great for more deep stuff.

How can a school not allow a video game system in your room...

I have a GameCube and an NES in my room. I use the computer for real work and the two systems for chilling.

Bring a video game system--there's nothing else to do on campus, at least where I go. (although I am transferring at semester end)

This is one advantage to living at home. GameCube, Xbox, PS2, N64, SNES, NES all within 10 feet of my bed. :)

i think he means they don't allow online services with consoles in the dorms, not that you can't actually own and play a console.

you cant't play online on a console in ur dorm right...

I dont see why you can't. You can set up a router and split the connection, at least at my dorm anyway. Obviously they tell you not to set up a router because its against the rules but we don't really pay attention to the rules at least in my room. Me and my roomie keep a toaster, foreman grill, etc. All things not allowed but we do anyway because no one will know we have them anyway.

I had my XBox online. All I had to do was register the Mac address...

They will probaly be able to tell that you are using an online gaming service because you will be hogging all kinds of bandwidth for long periods of time.

PC, it has more power, is able to have many mods and customizations for download, and people need a PC for other reasons than gaming already so it is not an out of the way purchase like it is getting Xbox.

There are great games for PC. However, I still like to play a sports game or something like Zelda on a console. More first person shooters are better on pc because of the control.

Hmm..I guess I am ambivalent now. PC is good and Console is good.

Are you kidding me with this question? Obviously console is better. There's more games (depending which console, though) and you don't have to worry about such nuisances as viruses, spyware, etc.

Console is not obviously better. If it were so obvious this question would not have been posted and there wouldn't be such a vivacious discussion.
