Consolidated List of Essay Readers on CC

Couldn’t someone like, steal it?

If anyone is still willing to read please comment or P.M me please

I know its a little late, but I’d be willing to read essays this summer! (but not when school starts haha)

I’m a teacher, a parent, and in another life, I was once a proofreader at Conde Nast (Vogue). My youngest son will be graduating from college in a few weeks. All my kids attended top 12-18 universities. PM me if you’d like my help. BTW, you’re in good shape if you’ll be applying this next cycle.

I would love to help  Send me your essays and I’ll read and comment on it

REALLY?
This thread again?

Happy to offer my assistance.

This thread has become kind of a dump…

Anyway, college senior here with a little extra time to spare this summer. I’m sure you can find more background on me if you dig through my old posts, but I drop in time to time to help out. Please PM me about your essay first (it’d be cool if you could introduce yourself first, intended schools if you’re comfortable sharing) – I don’t read first drafts or fragments.

I do not have my essay written yet, but I’d really appreciate it if someone could help me understand the focus of the content of the essay itself :)

@radron , That account hasn’t posted since 2009. Yours is a new account with 3 posts and a picture off of a linkedin profile that you found from Google. I don’t know if you’re trying to steal essays or something, but a warning to others, I wouldn’t send him anything.

Oh, they’re still doing this thread. For anyone who needs help, I’m happy to assist.

I’m currently a senior at Johns Hopkins University, and have quite a bit of experience in providing feedback for college essays (insofar as four years constitutes experience). My boilerplate disclaimer is this: my opinions are my own and not reflective of an institution, so be sure to consider many readers and perspectives when editing your essays!

Me tooo !!!

I’d love to help review your essays!

I’d be more than willing to read essays, just send me a PM first.

I graduated college last year (and thus can’t provide an edu email address), but you can see examples of my essay feedback by reading my posting history as jphes on reddit. (That is jphes with no Y; I couldn’t get exactly the same username here because it was already taken.)

I wonder if there should be a thread where users who have had their essays read by another user can post and comment on said user’s help/effectiveness in checking the essay? I never posted an essay on here when I was in HS, but I can definitely see how getting advice on here would be of great help. The risk of an essay being stolen, however, scares even me.

put me on the list too? thanks

Just updating my post/info: I am happy to look at any essays - please PM me the essay along with the prompt you’re answering, (preferably) what school it’s for, and the word limit.

I work full-time at a prep school as an English teaching assistant and writing fellow. I also have experience as a writing and reading tutor, working with students whose first language is not English, and a managing editor of a literary magazine. Please be aware that because I work full-time and I like to give essays my fullest attention, I will usually not respond until the weekend. If a weekend has passed and I haven’t responded, please nag me :)

Please also be advised that I am a gap year student applying to college for freshman admission (I applied for freshman admission last year as well, so I know the process pretty well) - some people feel uncomfortable sending their essays to people who are also applying to college this year, which I can understand. I am applying to Amherst, Bard, Bennington, Bowdoin, Connecticut, Dartmouth, Middlebury, Skidmore, Vassar (ED), Wesleyan, and Williams, if you want me to edit your essays but not the supplements for the schools we have in common. Annnnd I think that concludes my post!

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Do not send your essays to members who have only a few posts, because they may be looking for material to “borrow.”

I’ve worked in an admissions office and written national award-winning speeches. College admissions writing leans more on rhetoric than historical writing styles students have used up this point of their lives.

If you want to verify my credentials, you can request contact with me via Linkedin where all my credentials are at.

I’ll be writing a series of articles if I get the time this year.
