Hey everyone,
What are some of the best prep books you have used to achieve a high score on the new SAT? I have already bought the Offical Guide, Barron's How to Prepare for the New SAT. What other books have helped you a lot? Thanks.

use grammatix

i dont think barrons is any good

Have you used Grammatix before? Does it really work?

i am currently using it. it worked for many CCers and even xiggi gave a good review of it.

I have heard of Grammatix. People on CC are always talking about how good it is. But I have never heard of it before. What makes it so special?

after two months of deliberation of whether Grammatix was good or not, i bought it. it worked for me. :)

well, the strategies are straightfoward and easy to learn. They are very effective and not most people know these strategies.

so basically everyone thinks it's good. would you say that once you buy Grammatix, you don't need any other prep books (like PR, Kaplan, etc)? Well, besides the Offical Guide.

of course!!

thanks primitive future for your advice! i will probably buy it to study in the summer. three months is enough I suppose to finish the book.

well if you dont like it, there always that money back guarantee at grammatix. btw, you can finish the book in two days easilly!

you dont need strategies to crack the SAT. All you need is a good foundation of reading, maths, and writing. ppl went in and scored 2400's without prepping. So learning ''strategies'' is garbage.

Read my review of Grammatix:

There are other good books for the SAT, such as RocketReview Revolution, by Adam Robinson, Barron's Math Workbook, etc.

Thanks guys for all your help. What is this RocketReview Revolution thing? Is it better than Grammatix?

Godot's review is not reliable, at least according to all the CCers who bought and used Grammatix. Barrons is the worst of all SAT books, in my opinion. Not sure about Rocket Review as I never read them. I dont know the link, but go through the SAT/ACt board to find the thread and read the review. Godot is the only one that doesnt seem that satisfied.

primitive future, are you a spokesperson for Grammatix? if you used it, what did you get on your SAT's? :-)

i am not a spokesperson for grammatix. i am just a regular high school junior. I just took the SATs on May 7. But i did well on the practice tests (the blue book).

I hope you did well on the May 7th SAT. What was the essay question?

Grammatix, RocketReview and TestMasterz are at the top of my book list. Then we have McGraw Hill and Barron's workbooks. Then the countless others I have.
The thing about Grammatix is, I was able to finish the book in a short amount of time, which is also what you can do with the Testmasterz book, but this can only be gotten from taking their class. Grammatix is easy to read and does not drag on, like RocketReview does at some places. Getting either of those top three books will not let you done, each just have their strengths and weaknesses.

Alright gigante, or anyone else, I need a lot of practice questions for this summer. I mean..a whole lot.
Here are some books I found, but I'm not sure if they are any good:
http://www.admissionsconsultants.com/college/sati.asp
Which book has the best and most abundant practice questions? The strategies and stuff seem like a waste of time to me. How about the Princeton Review (here)?
And is there an updated version of 10 Real SATs?
Does anyone mind listing ALL of the books they have to practice? Because it seems like there are a ton of books out there, but I hear that some are good and some are worthless and I really don't know.
