UT 17 correct.

Thanks for the clear up Barrons!

I hope that US News sells enough copies to allow them to buy a clue and some integrity. Those guys must really know how to manage data to keep some schools in the positions they are. The positions number 4 and 5 are particularly suspect for both National Universities and LAC's.

What did MIT exactly do to cause them to drop? For Penn and Duke to remain above or equal to Stanford must require some deft manipulative tricks.

On the LAC side, in addition of maintaining the jocular number four spot for Wellesley, the changes from 2004 to 2006 for some schools are plain ridiculous. I am wondering if US News did not transpose the data for Pomona and Bowdoin. Bowdoin hasn't done a positive thing in two years and it climbs from 10th to 6th. Pomona becomes the most selective LAC and it drops from 4th to 6th. In 2005, Middlebury reinforced most of it statistics and dropped several points. A year of lackluster performance in the year counting for 2006 gets them ... a nice move upwards.

Selectivity has sure lost most of its meaning in the US News rankings. What a joke!

OUCH for NYU and UT!!!!! I STRONGLY disagree that Penn State and Florida are better schools than UT.

Shouldn't UCLA have had +1 in publics, since they were 4th alone 2005 and 2006 they are tied for 3rd?

You're right, it should have +1, I screwed up on that. Thanks for letting me know :)

Xiggi - I hate to be picky, but Pomona went from tied for 5th with Carleton, to tied for 6th with Bowdoin. A new dance partner, which I also agree makes a strange couple. When all the info is out, I'm looking forward to your cogent analysis.

Edit: Oops, just noted your time period of 04-06. Interesting indeed that Pomona has dropped one each year. Agree about Wellesley's position too.

Mine and yours don't agree starting with Case Western I believe :p Also, I believe barrons ammended his post by saying that San Diego should be right below the 31 position.

What are the lacs from 21 to 50?

Surprised that GW is not on the list?

Are Florida, Washington, Illinois really better than George Washington?

could you please look up Kenyon? thanks

Is UVA 22 or 23??

William and Mary IS a university

23rd, tied with Georgetown.

uvajoe was referring to the fact that the real name is actually "The College of William and Mary", when I had accidentally wrote "William and Mary University".

I'd say those are stronger overall than GWU.

32 with Holy Cross
