Of course it doesn't impact my opinion. I always think Stanford is a better school. I am just curious how the formula works such that even if a school scores lower in selectivity and reputation, it can still be ranked higher. My guess is selectivity and reputation don't have as much weight as I imagine. The one-point difference between Stanford and Penn (or few-point difference between xx and yy) means the order can be change easily if you change the weight of different criteria.

BU dropped to #60.

In the 2005 edition, Penn was higher than Stanford in factulty/student ratio, Alumni giving rank, Financial resources, and Faculty resources (penn ranked first in this category).

hey barron can you post the top 20 peer ranking...

thanks

Btw, Barron can you check the information and the college rankings according to the formula USNEWS use. Let's see if Penn is really that high...

Hmmm...
Does anyone know what the ranking of Top Public Universities is?

I think it is

UCB

UVA

Umich

this year.

UCB is 20th, Umich is 25th, and I forget waht UVA is.

Flopsy, check out post #11 here:

"I have never ever heard anyone give a good reason as to why Penn and Duke should not be "ranked" so high."

Humm? Penn just edges Cornell out as the easiest Ivy to gain admission to. Check the applicant pool of Duke and you'll find plenty of reasons why their current rank is a "bit" suspect. In the meantime, here are a few measurable "reasons"

Admission rates, especially Early Admits

SAT scores

Fill a number of blanks for a few more.

By the way, do you have any VALID reason why they would be in the top 10?

You would be surprised.

Haha.

Here is some incoming class data for Duke. I'm not sure what to infer from it.

wheres gw?

I have many people who agreed with me about those preference rankings. The rejection of your contention was almost ubiquitous.

Be careful, you are stepping on a fallacy.

I have to buy an LSAT prep fast.

Barrons - Please look up Lenoir-Rhyne. Thanks!

Bring back the thread devil may cry. From what I remember, most people agreed with me and not with you. Obviously, you feel the opposite. It's called bias.....on behalf of both of us.

Anyway, what up with "The rejection of your contention was almost ubiquitous." That's hilarious.

Penn is higher than Cornell though ^

LR-17 south

I hate to keep asking things of barrons, but could we get some SAT ranges, for say, Harvard and Princeton at least.

H1400-1580
P1370-1560
