Contacted by Admissions Office - Alumni Interview

Hey,
How common is it for the admissions office to contact applicants letting them know to “expect an email or telephone call” from the alumni interviewer? It’s also odd that the interview they assigned me lives in a state in the northeast, while I’m from way south.

I’ll appreciate your thoughts on this

Many schools give students a heads up about alumni interviews so they don’t think it’s spam email or hang up on the interviewer.

There maybe no one in your area available for interviewing so they’ve assigned you someone to talk or skype with. Very common!

I’m from a large city @momofsenior1
There’s a huge Princeton Alumni club here.
(I submitted my RD application October 30th)

Sometimes there are areas with active alumni clubs but not interviewers. I do meetings for Cornell and where I used to live, near a big city, there were only 6 interviewers in my region even though there were hundreds of alumni.

ah makes sense. Thanks a lot!
