Contacting Admissions over Application Status

I’m writing to all the colleges I applied to ensuring that my app is complete and that I haven’t made mistakes (I’ve been told this is a good idea to show you’re interest)

Nonetheless, do I include my application number or some other indentification when asking, excluding my name? I imagine they would need this to know who I am, haha.

Can’t you see it from the portals?

Some schools don’t have them. I’d rather email them directly, unless I’m mistaken.

It doesn’t show interest – it betrays nervousness and impatience.

Colleges will contact you if anything is missing. They WANT to admit you – remember that. Don’t contact them – it just clogs up their processes. Just relax and breathe and enjoy your last HS semester. You’ve worked hard for 3.5 yrs. Now let go…

Ok. I suppose you’re right, on the “proactive vs. irritating scale” it probably leans more toward the latter.

The main thing I’m worried about is official AP scores. I’ve been told colleges do not need them, yet I’m scared I’ve made a dire mistake.

It is not a dire mistake. You can always send them now if you really want. If money is not a concern and you got all 5s I would send. The same holds if you mostly got 5s with one 4 or possibly 2 if you took many APs. If you got less than that I would hold off.

My Ds college counselor encouraged them to contact their admissions officer with genuine questions or expressions of interest that could not be obtained from the web site. Asking a question that can be answered from the web site is annoying.

When you do communicate always put your Common Application or other identifier, such as one assigned by the college. Also your high school would be another good item to include. Also make sure you write to your regional representative.
