I just took the Spanish placement exam online & somehow got placed in Span 1230 Continuing Spanish. I don't even know the different tenses and conjugations - just rudimentary vocabulary/verbs. I'd be MUCH more comfortable taking the intro class, SPAN 1210 Elementary Spanish I (or Elementary Spanish II, although this would be tough for me.) Is there anyway I can contest the placement?

Good Luck!

It shouldn’t be a problem, I would contact the address provided above ^
I know a friend who placed into a 4000 level course but wasn’t sure of himself and requested to start at the 2000 level. Similarly, I myself asked the coordinator to start at a 2000 level course (I placed into a 3000) for a different language. I don’t see why they would force you to enroll in something out of your comfort zone.

Thanks guys! I sent out a few emails & the director of placement told me that it’s nonnegotiable. Oh well. I’m not in CAS so a language isn’t required for me.
