Please keep in mind that this thread is for you to get an idea of what stats I have, and that it doesn’t always take the best grades to get into schools that you love. Please do not compare yourself or put yourself down because I know that some people will see my grades as being “relatively above average” and some will think they are “terrible”.
Does anyone know how SJSU is going to release decisions? Will it be through email (like the other 3 CSU’s that I received) or is it through the portal?
Has anyone received their decision notification for SJSU? I received an email saying there were 2 new messages in my sjsu account (which I haven’t created/activated yet) so I just want to know whether anyone has seen any updates on decisions for SJSU? Thank you!
SJSU usually starts posting decisions in February. Last year I believe it was Feb 22. I would create/activate your student portal to make sure that they have received all required items to make their admission decision.
FYI: SJSU will bump your gpa .25 if your high school is within Santa Clara County! I live near SJSU and my son’s high school announced it back in fall 2021 (although he does not want to go there because it’s way too close to home lol!). Same deal with any CSU and high school in the same county. GOOD LUCK to you Pricklypear1!
Thank you for this info!! I also live in Santa Clara Country and I totally understand your son (I also would LOVE to experience living in a dorm room but if I ultimately attend SJSU I will have to live with my parents, so it’s more of a safety school for me). Thank you so much!!! (:
For those who are wondering, for my 1st semester of senior year I managed to get a 4.0! My weighted for 1st semester senior year is a 4.1667. For some background, my school calculates (as an example) A+, A, and A- as 4.0 (unweighted). Although I got an A- for Applied Math H, I still got a 4.0 for that class because of the way my high school calculates grades. Now my overall GPA for those who are curious, is:
unweighted: 3.7105
weighted: 3.8684
Hi all! I ended up applying to Santa Clara University over the holidays and was wondering if there was any way to stop receiving the marketing mail? I received a little postcard yesterday in the mail and I was kind of worried since only my dad knows that I applied and I wanted to have this application all to myself (my mom doesn’t know about it and I don’t want any mail to spoil this). I just applied since I was really interested in their business program, and wanted to know if I could get in with good merit/FA. Please let me know if I should call them? Email them? Thank you for your advice!
Thanks so much! SFSU is one of my top choices, but I live approximately 30 minutes away so if I ultimately decide to attend, I won’t be living on campus. I’ll most likely live at home and commute to school.
Hi @Ally86, SFSU is my top choice from the CSU’s that I’ve been accepted to. I think this is my best option since
It has a really wide variety of programs and I was accepted into Undeclared, so I’m definitely going to have lots of options to explore what major I would like to pursue. (I’m comparing the # of programs/majors to the other CSU’s that I was accepted into) I am definitely leaning towards the Nursing major as my top choice and the Clinical Laboratory Program as my second!
My parents are trying to save money right now, and commuting/living at home is my best bet. And, as of yet, SFSU is the closest CSU to my house (out of the ones that have accepted me).
Ok, that makes sense. I went to SFSU a million years ago and was undeclared for a long time! I’m sure you know that getting into their nursing program is extremely competitive, right? You will probably need to maintain a 4.0. The clinical lab program sounds interesting though. I hope one of these works out for you!
Yes! I do know that the nursing program is really competitive. Since the prerequisites for the nursing program and the clinical lab program are similar, depending on what GPA I end up getting, I’ll decide whether I’m going to apply for the Nursing program or not. Thanks so much for your advice!
