So my APUSH teacher from last year who offered to write me a rec has a wife who teaches at my top pick-miami university. Should I ask him to incorporate that into the essay somehow? Seems like it’d be a pretty good string?

any1?????????

I've never been a great advocate of trying to pull strings in college admissions, but it wouldn't make any kind of a difference in your admissions anyways. I mean, unless it was a direct relative of yours who taught there... and even then, it wouldn't make a big difference.

If he can mention it casually in passing in RELATION to your recommendation, then, sure, why not. If he has to go out of his way to bring that in, then it's not worth it.

I think it's very inappropriate to ask this. And it wouldn't belong in a recco anyway. It is ok to let him know that is your first pick, tho

It would be kind of odd if he was to incorporate that..what would he say about his wife in the rec and how could that possibly relate to you if you've never met..i don't know..you can however, ask your teacher to let you meet his wife, so you can talk about college

yea that's weird and probably wouldn't help one bit.
