Hey guys,
I’m just wondering what fun/cool things any of you have brought to boarding school to pass time and have fun. What are your suggestions?
Thanks!

A turntable.
A PS4
bananas
Naw those would go and spoil
taxidermied bananas?
@stargirl3 Now that would be quite the conversation starter.
@stargirl3 Great suggestion. Where can I get some?
@hockeygod33 Why, that is a question a mere mortal like myself simply cannot answer.
@mrnephew Am I allowed to bring a Playstation/Xbox? And if I am will I even have time to use it?
You should have some time. At least during weekends. In an admissions video, there was a scene where boys were playing video games.
That might be school specific. At my school, yes, you can bring it.
By far the biggest issue that most new students have is time management. You will have more homework that you’ve been accustomed to and precious little time to complete it.
@skieurope Do you or any of your friends have one? Do you know where people put them? A lot of schools say they don’t allow TV’s in rooms, and the only place I could think of putting it is in a gaming laptop (Which is very expensive), or in the rec room, but everybody would be all over it trying to play, and I would hardly be able to use it.
I have it in my room. We have a monitor that we use for it.
Like @mrnephew said, I use a monitor.
DS has some board games - Settlers of Catan is popular with his friends. Some kids have DVDs or they can borrow from the library and they will have movie nights on some Saturday nights in a common room.
I recommend against bringing ANY gaming consoles the first year. Not only does it interfere with work, but you run the risk – am wearing my “mom hat”. Can you tell?
I have heard of one boy who put an inflatable couch in front of the set. If the couch was inflated, it was OK to play. Uninflated =“Study Time”. Before he did that, his console became a social center at all hours for others in his dorm, interfering with his ability to carve out study time.
Self discipline and self-monitoring will certainly be greatly improved if you bring a game console your first year and maintain a great GPA + ECs!
I always thought it would be cool to bring a Hamock chair to hang from my bed
I always thought that it would be fun to bring an air hockey table. I don’t own one, but it would be fun to have that.
