Hey, I just got into the Cooper Union Summer STEM program. I got placed into my second choice, the one about natural resources and energy conservation, not my first, the iGem competition. Is there anyone else in a similar situation? Is there any way to get into my first choice program? Thanks!

Also, does anyone have any prior knowledge about the program? Experiences?

I got into Cooper too would you not to do that project? Maybe email them to express your interest

Congratulations on your acceptance! I already emailed them. There are a limited number of spots for each program, so I might just ask to do independent research instead. What program are you doing if you don’t mind me asking?

iGem and you can do independent research there part of the program?

Yes. Is that not independent research? I think I misinterpreted it as a group of students wanting to do their own research regardless of topic under one professor

I’m not sure its possible. I think it might be starting a new class that everyone is interested in.

Oh, I see… I wanted to get into iGems because I’ve gone to state science fairs on bio projects and I wanted to expand a bit on my previous projects. I’m only a sophomore though, so next year I might apply to RSI.Do you know any other prestigious research programs that I can apply to next year?

Thanks you too, also if you are a sophomore you have time. All those programs are almost all the ones I got rejected to, so my advice to you start now if you can apparently the essays are everything.
