Cooperative Education In High School

How does enrolling in a co op education program where you take out a small part of time in high school to work (in my case at a bank) for high school credit affect how colleges look at you? Do they like to see it? Do they consider it bad because it takes out some class time (7th class on a 7 block schedule)? Just curious before I decide whether or not to join this program.

I think work experience is great if its in your targeted career (or leading to it). Not just nice for the college, nice for the next step on the career ladder.

Three things every college student should be able to put on an app:

  • Academice accomplishments
  • Service or work accomplisments
  • EC accomplisments

If your grades should slip, the job should go so you can focus on coursework.

Try the work experience! It can show a lot of responsibility to the colleges you are applying to. It also simply gives you world experience, which is great.
