Core Curriculum vs "divisional studies"

Hello all, I’m relatively new to cc (although I’ve been reading lots of posts on cc for a long time). I’ve recently been accepted to BU with an undeclared major in the College of Arts and Sciences. I know that BU has the core curriculum and another option of divisional studies. Could anyone who has chosen divisional studies, or anyone who knows something about this elaborate on the difference between these two options? (I found information about it on the site but I don’t really understand the difference). Also, would it be possible for me to take a few courses in the School of Management as an undeclared major in CAS (I’m not sure what I would like to study as of now but I might be leaning towards business). I’m sorry if these questions seem obvious but I’m a bit confused as to how the process of choosing courses goes about.

Thank you!

bump…

each fulfills your humanities, social sciences, & natural sciences (and math i think) requirements. core curriculum is basically core 101, core 102, etc. divisional studies allows you to choose what you want to take in each field. for example, if you need 2 semesters of a social science, in the undergrad manual that you’ll most likely get at orientation, there’s a whole list of courses you can take, including sociology, psychology, women’s studies, anthropology, etc. i personally chose divisional studies and loved taking archaeology and classical greek civilization as my humanities. i don’t know much else about core curriculum except that there’s not really options if you’re interested in studying a particular subject matter, but someone else might know more about it than i would.

This was very helpful, thanks so much!!
