Core Curriculum/ Divisional Studies

Can someone explain these to me please? I was looking at the core curriculum, and it seemed to be optional for students to take. Do we have to choose between the Core and Divisional Studies? If so, can someone list pros and cons please?

Thanks :)

Yes--if you're in CAS, you must do one or the other.

I am BUCOPing, so it really wasn't much of a choice for me--divisional studies was much much much easier to fulfill.

A lot of people say that CAS Core is harder and most people do choose divisional. Core is rather structured, while divisional gives you a lot of options and flexibility.

I can't tell you too much about Core, but here's some info:

In divisional, you simply take two courses in each of four subject areas: social sciences, natural sciences, math and humanities.

yeah, i did some reading on both. Divisional does seem to be more attractive, to me.

If you have AP credit, you can use that to fulfill some of the divisional studies courses.
