Apologies if this has already been posted, but Cornell just announced it is dropping the SAT II requirement for its College of Arts and Sciences https://admissions.cornell.edu/news/sat-subject-tests-no-longer-required-college-arts-and-sciences
https://admissions.cornell.edu/apply/first-year-applicants/college-and-school-admissions-requirements
So that just leaves the College of Engineering saying they are “optional”.
This also means there are apparently now only four colleges left that specifically require SAT subject tests. Those four are MIT, Caltech, Harvey Mudd, and McGill (which accepts ACT in lieu of both SAT and subject tests). A number of colleges that previously required them now recommend or sometimes strongly recommend them, which, of course, still raises the issue of whether you need them.
Harvey Mudd was the last to accept the ACT so guess they don’t want to buck a trend
