I am writing my college interest essays for cornell undergrad.

I am applying as first choice to SCHOOL OF INDUSTRIAL AND LABOR RELATIONS
second choice -COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES /ECONOMICS

My question is that my essay is pretty much teh same for each. I talk about business etc. So can I use the same essay for both? or is Cornell going to look at them both together and see that I copied. Is the admissions department for each college separate?

it is due by 11:59 pm tomorrow. so as long as you get it in, you should be fine. the two essays will be similar, but htey should be different because you would be customizing it to the particular colleges...and not just replacing ILR with CAS

i used the same exact essay but i switched the names of the college/major. if the majors you choose for your primary and secondary are close enough, there's no reason why you can't use the same essay.

that being said, it's up to you to do it. your primary college can see the essay you wrote for your secondary college, but then again, less than 1% of all apps actually get forwarded to the second choice - and what with all of the apps this year, i highly doubt the adcoms are going to take the time to read your essay.
